Homeopathy helps 90% of participants in infertility programme
Homeopathic treatment for infertility has helped the birth of 67 babies in the Cuban province of Holguin.
Dr Esperanza Gilling, who runs the Provincial Center for Homeopathy, reports that homeopathic treatment has proved effective for around 90 per cent of patients who have taken part in his infertility programme.
Interestingly, Cuba has a long association with homeopathy. Introduced to the island in 1842, the healthcare system there is considered a model for the developing world by the World Health Organisation, particularly in primary and preventive care.
In the 1990s, the Cuban Ministry of Health integrated homeopathy (among other treatments) into mainstream medicine and it is now taught in all 14 medical schools. Homeopathic treatment is available in hospitals, special provincial clinics like the one in Holguin, polyclinics and from family doctors.
